The goal of the Greater Pittsburgh Church of Christ congregation is to put into practice both the lifestyle and doctrine that is outlined in the Bible for the family of God. As a result, we believe that God calls each of us to vibrant personal growth and genuine transformation, becoming truly like Jesus Christ in both heart and action.
The identifying mark of genuine FAITH is LOVE. God’s greatest command is for us to love one another and to love the world around us (even our enemies!). This requires both genuine relationship and genuine humility. Our small groups and campus ministries are built upon and led by this principle.
Jesus Christ died not only for our ETERNAL SALVATION, but to enable us to continue on the path toward GENUINE TRANSFORMATION. We believe that we are called to become like Him through personal prayer and bible study, purposeful one-another relationships, healthy accountability and training in spiritual disciplines. Christians should exhibit measureable inward and outward growth toward MATURITY IN CHRIST. Jesus Christ changes lives both in this life and in the next.
Jesus Christ prayed for the UNITY OF ALL BELIEVERS only hours before his death (John 17:20-23). With this in mind, we affirm our CONNECTION to others in our communities of like mind and practice. We are committed to both leadership and congregational connections within our family of churches regionally and worldwide. We believe church leadership requires sincere and loving oversight and the WISDOM and DIRECTION of others that are ahead of us in both life and ministry experience. We welcome the counsel of others and seek relationships with those who are able to develop and mature our congregation in Christ.
All members of the Greater Pittsburgh Church of Christ strive to live and practice the “GREAT COMMISSION” of Jesus Christ (Matt 28:16-20). We believe that those outside of Christ are lost. To this end, we practice a robust evangelistic outlook and use our personal bible study groups to introduce and train others in the lifestyle and mission of Jesus Christ. We practice lifestyle and neighborhood EVANGELISM and see this as our ULTIMATE MISSION as a congregation.
